Today it was announced that Zack Snyder is stepping down from the post production process for DC’s 2017 Justice League film for personal reasons and handing the baton to Joss Whedon. We have learned that DC brought Whedon into their camp at the end of March to begin the transition with Snyder. Already in talks with the studio about his upcoming involvement in the Batgirl movie, Whedon is stepping into Snyder’s shoes intending to honor the director’s original vision for the project in light of a family tragedy.
Whedon brings experience to the Blockbuster superhero team table, having helmed both The Avengers in 2012 and Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015 for Marvel Studios.
Snyder is taking a break from work in the wake of the death of his daughter by suicide. For those seeking help, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day and can be reached at 1-800-273-8255.
