The Can't-Miss Writers of WhedonCon 2017


Are you a writer? Do you want to be a writer? Or are you simply a lover of the written word? Fans of sci-fi/fantasy writing couldn't ask for a better lineup of writers than what WhedonCon 2017 is serving up. Among the various talented authors and screenwriters in attendance, three in particular deserve special mention. Each of these all-star writers played a unique role in shaping our favorite stories, leaving an individual, unforgettable, mark on the Whedonverse.

DAVID FURY | Guest of Honor


Writer / Producer / Director

Attending his first con in 10 years, David Fury is an Emmy, WGA and Saturn award-winning writer/producer best known to Whedon fans for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. David also wore the director’s hat for assorted episodes of Buffy and Angel. As an actor, he got the mustard out of his dry cleaning in the Buffy musical “Once More with Feeling,“ had a puppet’s hand up him in the Angel episode “Smile Time,” delivered the news through song in Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and partied during Much Ado About Nothing. TIM MINEAR


Writer / Producer / Director

Possessing a true talent for words, Tim Minear won the hearts of Whedon fans by penning a long list of memorable lines. Famous words the fandom holds dear such as, “When you can't run, you crawl, and when you can't crawl - when you can't do that . . . You find someone to carry you" have cemented Tim's role as a Whedonverse legend.

While best known to Whedon fans for his work on Firefly, Angel, and Dollhouse, Tim went on to become both writer and executive producer for American Horror Story, for which he has received three Primetime Emmy Nominations. His latest project is a collaboration with Ryan Murphy called Feud, airing now on FX. Read more about Tim Minear

CHRISTOS GAGE


Writer

While best known to Whedon fans as the brilliant comic scribe behind Angel & Faith Season Nine and Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten, Christos Gage has blazed a trail in the comic book industry for over a decade with his work on The Amazing Spider-Man and The Superior Spider-Man, as well as his creation of the innovative teen series Avengers Academy.

Marvel fans will recognize him as a writer for Season 1 of Netflix’s Daredevil, collaborating with wife Ruth Fletcher Gage to write “Speak of the Devil,” the chapter of the hero’s saga IGN called “the quintessential Daredevil episode.” Christos is currently the sole author of Buffy Season Eleven.
